Re: APCC rate settings

Hi Ray,
You mean whether IPV4 is enabled on my cable modem? I'm actually not sure. I logged into it nowhere does it explicitly say IPv4, but do see internet addresses that look like IPv4 for the modem. There is a tab for IPv6.

Windows10 is at latest service pack and everything is up to date.

Re: APPM Model Creation Problem

Ok. Most of the points would be on the east side of the meridian and APPM does limit the automated points to the visible area.. I'm assuming it will do a flip if I attempt to map a few stars on the other side?

I just tested this and was given the option to download the new version. I am on 1.8.0.5 (Pro) though. Not sure that matters...

Brian and cytan,

1. I am wondering if you have IPV4 enabled on your LAN port?

2. Have you applied all Windows updates and especially all optional updates having to do with .Net framework?

Cytan,

I can't explain why your computer or network is (probably) not passing the request to the website.

Can you email your IP address privately to me (don't post it here) and I'll look to see if there have been any requests from that IP address?

Email me at groups3 at gralak dot com.

Hi Brian,

When you run APCC it will indicate a new version is available in the title. Then from APCC's help menu
you can use Check for updates to get the download link.

Ray where can we download this latest version?

AP site only has link to 1.8.0.5 right now

That was fixed in 1.8.0.8/9.

Wayne,

I don't know for sure if the custom limits will work perfectly for your scope's view of the sky. You can always create a custom list of points if you needed, but you should try to create an automated list first. You can then export the points and manually remove the problematic ones.

Ray, think I figured out I’ve been doing the meridians wrong! I think I need to run the west limits except I move the
scope East to the point it’s not going under the eaves. So the west limits show up on the east side. Right? Then
use the East limits for the more typical counterweights up run camera into the pier situation. Anyway I’m starting
the mapping anew.

I’m also Remapping the altitude limits so that will be used to stop tracking when the camera starts to track under
the eaves.

does this sound like it will work?

Wayne,

APPM turns off the Horizon/Meridian limits when it starts and turns them on again when stopped or finished.

Discovered one issue - the plotter ignores my meridian limits and insists on pointing to the zenith/meridian from
the west side, which looks straight up into the eaves of my roof. In fact it appears APMM insists on turning off the
meridian tracking limits box. Any way to force the model to image from the east side?

Wayne,

Assuming you have set up image scale accurately in APPM have you tried setting up All Sky plate solving as a
backup for when the normal plate solve fails? It's an option in APPM's plate solve tab. This helps if the problem is
just that the mount coordinates are not very close to sky coordinates.

There is also a feature in APPM to perform test plate solves on the plate solve tab. You can use that to make sure
plate solving is working since each plate solver is different. If you are using APCC 1.8.0.9 you can set the camera
type in APPM to "NASA Sky View" for daytime testing. It will download an image in the proper image scale using
the mount's RA/Dec pointing position. Not many people seem to know about that. :-)

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now. I'm probably not going to be available again until this evening, but I can
help you more at that time if you still can't get any further. In that case It would be great if you could use APCC's
log zipper to capture logs and send me a private email with a dropbox link to the zip file.

Hi Ray, trying to create a simple model with my Horizon and Meridian limits turned on. It generates a set of
points
but fails every solve. When I manually try a solve in APPM (using Pinpoint) I get this message:

Plate Solve failed!

The plate's exposure start time is required for catalog proper motion calculation. Check the attached image.

Mikko,

I’m not a computer expert and hate Windows, but I understand that a driver can get corrupted. Using Luminous
directly would take the AP V2 driver out of the control system, wouldn’t it? If it’s still off on the park with just
Luminous, then there is a mount or CP problem. If it works ok, then something is amiss in your
computer/driver/APCC. You should be able to initialize with just Luminous. Not sure what park positions it allows
for. SkySafari only allows for Park 4. I think they are working to allow for more.

Hi Ray,

I ran APCC Pro 1.8.0.5. When I check for updates I get the answer No updates to APCC are available. Do I
have
to be connected to a mount?

Hi Brian,

When you run APCC it will indicate a new version is available in the title. Then from APCC's help menu
you can use Check for updates to get the download link.

That was fixed in 1.8.0.8/9.

Re: Mach1 Unable to Find Home Position Suddenly

Hi Mikko,

Thanks Roland, i'm trying to digest this as I don't recall ever changing anything after the day light saving change.
Nor would I know where to do that. Here's a screen capture from a few minutes ago. I don't see anything
extraordinary here but if the LST time should be 6 hours from the park 3, then that is not correct as currently it
should be two hours less than shown. If this is the issue, how do I fix that?
The screenshot of the driver shows RA=0 and Dec=90, implying the mount has not yet been initialized. That would be a good reason for the LST to be wrong. The mount needs to be initialized before LST will be accurate.

Hello astro-nuts,

The governor of IL just announced a “stay at home” order policy for non-essential businesses from Saturday, March 21st at 5pm through April 7.  We anticipated this possibility and developed a plan to continue as normally as possible to support our customers and ship products.

Roland, Karen and I will be working at AP. Roland will continue to complete the final assembly and testing of Mach2GTOs and 92mm Stowaways.  Karen and I will pack, as needed, and whatever else we need to do.

Office and technical staff will be working remotely from home to answer your questions or take your orders. Although someone will be answering the phone, we ask that you communicate primarily via email if you can.

Our machining and finishing processes will be impacted as well as local subcontractors who anodize and engrave for us. We look forward to having them back at work as soon as possible.

Please be patient with us through this time. We are all in uncharted territory and adapting to changing circumstances on a daily basis.

All of us at AP extend our best wishes for your health and safety. As a wise person told me recently, treat everyone with kindness and compassion, keep your spirits up as we will get through this together…and wash your hands.

Clear Skies,

As far as I know, there is no restriction. We have advised our UPS driver to check in with us and will continue to use FedEx and postal as needed.

I'm just curious what your shipping partners are telling you regarding "non-essential" shipping?  Are everyday products still being shipped, or is shipping limited to "essential" items only?
Stay safe and healthy!

Even when the West meridian limit is East of the meridian, APPM is slewing to the zenith on the west side. Maybe I won’t be able to do that.
