Can you link to this power supply, are you referring to their little switcher power supplies in the perforated metal cases?

Subject: [ap-gto] Mean Well power supply question

A week or two ago, Roland stated that the Mean Well works fine with A-P
mounts. I bought a 15V model, and have a question.

The AC line input ground terminal is connected to the metal case, as it
should be. The + and - DC output terminals are isolated from the case.

The power connector on my AP1200 connects the negative wire to the metal
mount case.

QUESTION: Does the Mean Well power supply work OK with the negative DC
terminal connected to ground (case) through the AP12o00 power cable?

I assume it does, but I'd just like confirmation before I connect it.

Thanks.

Re: why when I plate solve is my APCC RA off by an hour

Roland Christen

Make sure that your hand controller is set to EXT so that it does not send time, date and location to the mount when power is applied. EXT allows the mount to be properly initialized by the ASCOM driver on your laptop.

You did not provide enough information to say what caused your issue.

However, you should not need to do anything to APCC's time settings because APCC automatically changes the time and time zone to compensate for each other, assuming you are using version 1.7.x.

If you did change the time zone or time offset then that caused the problem. If something else initialized the mount (e.g. hand controller or SkyX) then that probably caused the problem.

All mount control is done via APCC pro.

At this stage Ray I just want to get reinitialized, back to normal. At the end of the night can I park the mount (at
position4) then adjust the mount by unlocking the clutches (if necessary) using a level to adjust the axis?

Re: why when I plate solve is my APCC RA off by an hour

Ray Gralak

After plate solving I moved the mount via APCC back an hour and found the Crab and centered it by imaging, then
incremental movements.
If you plate solved the coordinates that would result in an absolute RA/Dec sky position. If you were off by one hour then you could
plate solve and sync (probably all-sky). Rememeber to temporarily turn off "Prevent Errant Recals" in APCC's Advanced settings.

As to why it happened is a mystery. APCC reads the time and time zone from your computer. Maybe your computer didn't update itself
properly if it's not running the latest Windows 10 updates. Or, are you running an old version of APCC or the driver?

All mount control is done via APCC pro.

At this stage Ray I just want to get reinitialized, back to normal. At the end of the night can I park the mount (at
position4) then adjust the mount by unlocking the clutches (if necessary) using a level to adjust the axis?

You did not provide enough information to say what caused your issue.

However, you should not need to do anything to APCC's time settings because APCC automatically changes the
time and time zone to compensate for each other, assuming you are using version 1.7.x.

If you did change the time zone or time offset then that caused the problem. If something else initialized the
mount
(e.g. hand controller or SkyX) then that probably caused the problem.

I was able to connect to the scope in APPM after checking off
Auto Config and Update Now in APCC.
I presume that's all that was needed?
Yes.

Hint: There is very good information in the help file. Clicking the "?" button in many of the control group boxes in APCC will bring you to the relevant section of the help file.

i was told that there is a video on encoder installation. I would like to see it before tackling the installation. I can’t find it on the Astro Physics site. Can anyone help me find it?
I found a video on YouTube that was made in 2018. The video covers part one of the installation. It says there will be a part two video but I don't see it. Is there a video covering the entire installation?
