Re: Image posting test
Joe Zeglinski
Hi,
I have seen and had similar difficulties “pasting” a
picture into the text area of a personal LIVE MAIL email. Forgotten now, what
method I tried, and only got a non-opening “X” icon place holder
substitution for the image.
Likewise, COPY & PASTE completely ignores the
command, at the cursor position.
However, I always succeed in pasting an image, if I
first display it on-screen then use the Win-10 SNIP tool to capture a
rectangular area of it. This immediately has TWO results. First SNIP tool
creates a new screen containing the snipped area, and you can use the SAVE AS to
save it as a picture file. But, the snip is also simultaneously stored to your
CLIPBOARD – which easily pastes into the body of a Microsoft client like LIVE
MAIL.
This always works, in emailing. However, the only
actions you can do on the pasted image is shrink/expand it via handles, to get
more snips in, beside it, Otherwise, the cursor is then positioned at the snip
pasted bottom right corner, which you can simply hit Return, to add more text to
your message (below or above the paste).
The other “traditional” Windows KEYBOARD method – (yes,
for the Millenials, a keyboard is as obsolete as a pencil is for texting)
- for just about any Win-version, is to display the image on screen in its
own window, click on to capture (just
that) window to clipboard – and THAT will easily paste into the body of
your email, and can then be resized. Or, if you would like to capture the entire
Windows desktop, use , which is handy if you
would like to paste more than one image (montage), in the same paste.
SNIP is a really nice tool, even better and easier
to use than ALT---PRNTSCRN. I consider it the modern “mouse-method,”
version replacing the old “keyboarding method”, has several more options in the
menu, with exactly the same result for “HTML format email”, pasted
images.

The hilarious aspect of this thread is that I have never seen the images that I posted and that others say they can see. I have never seen any images in the email digest or the yahoo forum, hence my comment about yahoo being stuck in the 1980s.
Why does this community put up with this inferior experience? The email digest is laughable in 2019. Many times it contains computer vomit where some innocent souls has embedded an image or social media link in their response. Come on yahoo it’s time to wake up.

You might try just pasting into the edit control instead of using insert picture. The latter is probably encoding the picture as an attachment, but the former might encode it as in inline HTML image (assuming you don't have your client set to send plain text emails.)

In my private yahoo group, I was able to attach messages by simply pasting them into GMail, Hotmail, and Thunderbird. I was not able to get it to work with the webmail clients (Horde and Roundcube) that I have available on the server that hosts my aperturefever.org domain, so it does seem like there is some dependency on the email client that is posting the message. Using the "Attach" option did not work in my private group when I matched the settings of this group "Attachments are not permitted.". When that option was enabled in my private group, it put a link in the message with a thumbnail. The full images could then be viewed in the Yahoo Groups web interface by following the "More" menu items to attachment, but AP would have to change the group settings for that to work here. Sending to this group through my server with Thunderbird worked (using two different methods), and it looks like Tim his message with the embedded images using Apple Mail. With Thunderbird, for the first image of the 2012 Venus transit I simply copied the image into the clipboard and pasted it into the message, and for the second image of the 2017 solar eclipse, I used "insert->html" and manually crafted an HTML remote link to an image on one of my servers.

Unplug the encoder, turn on power, run the Polemaster. When you're done, remove the Polemaster and plug the encoder back in.

To run the Polemaster sequence you have to move the mount. I suppose one could do it manually but that would be making life harder than it would need to be. I personally dont use Polemaster anymore due to RAPAS being more accurate.

Re: Mach2 update and discussion of features
Woody Schlom <woody@...>
Thomas,
I’m not sure what you’re trying to do, but under the “Mach2 update and discussion of features” subject, you’ve posted two images. The first appears to be a planetary transit of the Sun, and the second is a solar eclipse image. If you’re trying to figure out how to post images to this group, you’ve got it! But it might be helpful to post under a more suitable subject line – such as “Testing how to post solar images here.” Nice images by the way – particularly the corona one.
