I think that SGP only supports pushing the Meridian flip point later, which is a negative value in APCC/Driver. You would have to ask the SGPro folks why the displayed value in SGPro shows as it does. -Ray Gralak Author of APCC (Astro-Physics Command Center): http://www.astro-physics.com/index.htm?products/accessories/software/apcc/apcc Author of PEMPro: http://www.ccdware.com Author of Astro-Physics V2 ASCOM Driver: http://www.gralak.com/apdriver Author of PulseGuide: http://www.pulseguide.com Author of Sigma: http://www.gralak.com/sigma

Not Able to Understand Meridian Delay between APCC and Sequence Generator Pro
binkersnot@...
Greetings!
I am confused about how to set the Meridian Delay in APCC in tandem with Sequence Generator Pro. I see in the latest version of APCC on the Meridian tab that there is a "Send Limit to SGPro" checkbox. I have turned this on and then made changes to the Meridian Delay. The results seem to be doing the opposite of what I expect. I'd appreciate clarification on how to set the Meridian Delay from APCC to be recognized and used by SGP. Here's an example of what I am seeing: At present my scope is pointed at Deneb, which is E of the meridian. There is no Meridian Delay (0) in APCC. SGP reports that it will do a meridian flip in 3 hr 15 min when Deneb reaches the Meridian. When I set the APCC Meridian Delay to +1.00 hr, I expect the meridian flip to occur an hour earlier. Indeed the yellow line in the Telescope Position diagram in APCC shows it is shifted 1 hr E, and any slews I make between that line and the meridian will be CW up as desired. However, I note that SGP now reports the time until flip is an hour later at 4 hr 15 min. This seems backwards to me. Do I have this right? I just attempted to set the delay to one hour later (now shifted W), and SGP still adds an hour to the flip, whether I set the Meridian to + or -1 hr. Thanks for your help with this. Best Regards, Ben

If you can find the old Robin Casady saddles and tandem bars (no
longer made sadly) on the used market I would recommend getting some
as they are a step above anything else I've tried.

Before I used the Ascom Telescope Driver for the Sky X and then I choosed Astrphysics driver. I don't know how to come back to the old diver ? I am lost can you help me? Best regards

Re: ADM saddle for Mach1GTO
Woody Schlom <woody@...>
Jinyoung,
The Losmandy dual scope saddle works fine on my Mach1. I see no reason why the ADM wouldn’t work.
But that said, I replaced the standard short AP two-clamp dovetail on my Mach1 for AP’s much longer and solid three clamp one. I don’t think I’d trust any dual scope saddle on the short AP dovetail.

Hi, I'm almost about pulling trigger to new mach1gto. Question is how ADM dual saddle for the mount is. Does anyone use it? May I ask pros and cons? I already have ADM dual saddle for my AVX and not sure that I could reuse it with just buying proper adapter.
Thanks, Jinyoung

Hi Ray,
Thank you for your answer. That is what I will do while waiting the update, hoping I will not have issues with other software (french for ex.) Anyway, next days, the sky will be cloudy and the moon waxing gibbous or full Best regards, Claude

Hi Alan,
Unfortunately I just did that as I recently put all my cables through the mount and made sure all was tightened as I put things back together.

If all else fails check the tightness of all of your screwed connections. Your bolting to your telescope; the bolting of the saddle to the mount; the bolting of the sections of your declination and RA axis.

Re: Problem with regional settings
Ray Gralak
Hi Claude,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I think this may be happening because of recent changes to allow extra precision to some of the commands. The AP Driver uses the ASCOM libraries to create RA/Dec strings for some of the commands sent to the mount, so as a workaround for now you could define "." as decimal in Windows regional settings. So, I've added a bug report for this issue and I expect a fix will be available in AP V2 v5.10.01, when it becomes available. Re: ADM saddle for Mach1GTO
I have an ADM Losmandy-size, dual-saddle that I sometimes use
on my 1100. Works fine. I put a C14 and AP 130 APO on the 1100
together.
With the adjustable bits it is rather heavy and I am not sure
that it would be as useful on a Mach1, which would limit the size of OTA's you
could put on it.
FWIW, a Mach1 and dual-saddle could carry a heck of a lot more
than the AVX.
Is yours the Vixen-size or the
Losmandy-size?

If all else fails check the tightness of all of your screwed connections. Your bolting to your telescope; the bolting of the saddle to the mount; the bolting of the sections of your declination and RA axis.
Check the stability of your optics too. No mirror flop. No looseness of secondary. Tightness of all camera components. I only mention this because I had a situation where the continual hot/cold (day/night) caused some of my bolting to loosen. I had guiding problems. Once I went through a check of all my bolting the problem was resolved. That may not be your issue, but it does not hurt to check. I am wondering if I may have an issue with my AP 1100 GTO mount. I’ve had it for a little over a year now and it has worked without issue. I am using it for astrophotography with a C11 Edge @ 2800mm with an Ultrastar guide come on a COAG. PHD2 is my guiding software and normally my guiding has me around .3/.4 RMS in both RA and Dec. I have noticed lately that the numbers were getting a bit higher but just assumed it was atmospheric conditions. Although I had also noted that of late my stars have been a bit out of round even on short 30 sec subs. Last night I was getting around .7 Ra and .5 Dec with a Total RMS near 1.0 arc/sec. I decided I would run a new calibration just to try and tighten things up. Unfortunately I could not get a successful calibration. PHD2 would be complaining about RA and Dec guiding rates differing by too much. I started a post on Cloudy Nights (https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/590415-help-with-phd2-guiding-cant-calibrate/#entry8082854) before posting this issue here. I haven’t changed anything in my routine and the only thing I did different was to run a calibration last night. I also made sure my PA was accurate, and it is, as you can see in the pics at Cloudy Nights. It was suggested that I may need to remesh the gears? Any other thoughts on what may be causing this? Problem with regional settings
Claude Roth
Hello Since Ascom driver version 5.09.09 I have issues because of the regional settings - decimal settings. I have a french Windows 10 version, with the default decimal setting set to comma, the position and time information in the driver window are not correct or sometimes empty, I have also a lot of communications errors. The telescope crosshair in the planetarium software is also not functional. Bets regards Claude See image capture https://photonsdenuit.fr/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/snip_20170903173424.png

Re: [ap-ug] Re: Eclipse Combined image
Philip,
There is only one Mr. Eclipse. We were set up quite near Fred at Casper College. He had to deal with the same, less-than-ideal conditions and drama that we did. It will be interesting to see what he pulls out of his images. We just saw a photo taken by a nearby friend of the entire sky during totality. The sun was surrounded by clouds with a bit of break in just the right spot.
Fred had quite an extensive series of cameras (17, I believe) capturing a wide variety of phenomenon. He began his setup at 3:30am to assure that he was ready in time.
