PemPro installation problem

Leonardo Priami

Hi friends!

I try to re-install a PEMPro-2.70.119_AP.exe in a desktop where I just format hard disk and installed Windows 8.1 64 bit. Installed and activated Framework 3.5.
Just I click on the executable (as Administrator) I get "This App can't run on your PC".

I try in "compatibility mode" as W7, Vista...but I have the same result.

I try to install it also on my laptop with W 8.1 64bit and I have the same problem.

Can someone help me?

Thanks,

Regards,
Leonardo

Thanks Steve, ya know I always was told, "There are no stupid questions". Guess a few folks here disagree, eh? Or just feeling judgmental?

I think it's very reasonable to want to get as much information as possible, especially for what's likely to be, for me, a lifetime acquisition, unlike a car or computer. It's pretty easy to get a lot of high probability advance intelligence on the features cars or computers will have months or even years in advance.

Plus many sellers are willing to say that a new model WON'T be coming out soon. That would help them sell current inventory sooner, certainly I'd go ahead. Silence is also informative - tells me there's at least a chance worth waiting 4 months for (but NOT 14 months or more).

So I'm moving on, I've learned more than I expected... no need for further responses.

Really, you would be disappointed if you bought a mount and a new version was released at NEAF, welcome to progress.

Best bet is wait for NEAF 2017, nothing new, whip out the CC or maybe wait for NEAF 2018, 19, 20...

I made my own combination USB3 hub and Powerpole power distribution hub for my Mach1.

In my situation, I don't have an existing portable mount to upgrade. Although the through the mount feature is nice, it would be nicer to have integrated electronics specifically a USB hub and a power hub, perhaps with PowerPole connectors.

If AP did a Mach 3 it would have to be made of Titanium and would be cost prohibitive to build in the 1st place. :-)

That's one of the things that I specifically love about Astro-Physics.  They have a proven track record of always caring about existing customers and have released lots of upgrades and improvements for older mounts and scopes over the years.  In fact I don't know of any manufacturer who has done a better job in that regard.

Actually, in the recent past, AP made several improvements to the Mach1 mount without creating a completely new mount: APCC, the new control box and soon (hopefully) the new auto-adjusting motor/gearboxes. So, I'd be surprised if there is suddenly a completely new Mach1-like mount.

I am also curious why an new mount is necessary instead of simply changing out mechanisms or systems in the original mount. There's nothing wrong with the original, just add upgrades to enhance the overall capabilities. As far as I can tell, Losmandy's mounts are pretty much the same mounts with added accessories.

Thanks for listening.

Re: Time change vs. Park position

I have seen something similar when changing locations.  Sometimes the DEC axis points to unexpected angles when parking after location changes.  A 30-second cold boot of the CP3 servo control box and a follow-up recalibrate has usually fixed it.

I have no idea why it happens.

Dec is not a function of time.  Double check to be sure you don’t have your latitude in the longitude position and vice versa.   In the keypad, longitude gets entered first, so it’s longitude and latitude – not latitude and longitude.  That is a common gotcha!

Hi

I'm trying g to set my 1200 mount to GMT. I have the time zone set at zero, my lat/long are correct and time set to correct GMT. When I slew from park 4 to park 2 the counter weight is correctly placed but the Dec looks 45 degrees off, pointing between north and east. What am I doing incorrectly?

Thanks
