Ross,
We have the 8” Eagle Pier Extension (EAGLE6E8) which will work well with the Berlebach tripod. See: http://www.astro-physics.com/products/accessories/mounting_acc/eagle6.htm#extension

I have a Mach 1 with the Berlebach tripod. I'd like to put an extension on top of the tripod to help clear my cables from snagging and the scopes from hitting the tripod. Does AP manufacture such an extension and/or is that advisable or am I playing with
fire with regards to balance?

Oh also removing the Dec plate and the RAPAS! I'm sure I'll do both those too.

Re: Extension for Tripod
Hi, George: Does the EAGLE6E8 also work with the old wood AWT000 tripod, fitted with an ADATRI? I am guessing that, if used in this manner, the base of the Mach1GTO would plop into the open top of the pier extension, correct? Paul, also the tip on taking the Dec top plate off for carrying and taking the RAPAS off after alignment are excellent too. Thanks again,

Great info Peter. I can tell right away that the AP knobs probably wouldn't have enough clearance. I may give those thumbscrews a try though. Thanks for the photo - it's worth a thousand words. Any tips or tricks you've learned with the 1100 so far? Other than the Allen wrench observation?
Paul, hang in there. I originally ordered my pier in February and was given a May 1 ECD. Now looking at last week in June. I keep telling myself, "It will be all the sweeter for the wait!" :-) it's really hard though just looking at this bad boy and not even being able to do dry runs with it! Wayne

Congrats on receiving the mount. I also have this mount and ATS pier as well. I use the following thumbscrew:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#91744a581/=s9g2u2 Also see my image at: http://tinyurl.com/AP1100-Thumbscrew I used them for a while and then reverted back to A-P supplied bolts because I always need to use Allen Head wrench for other parts of the scope like three knobs of A-P 16" saddle, clutch knobs, etc. What's cool about A-P mounts is that same size Allen Head wrench is used for most parts of the mount. I always disconnect the top plate/saddle so that's the whole mount is a little lighter to carry from my house to backyard. I love through the mount wiring. Be careful if RAPAS is always connected to the mount because one night RAPAS caught one of the USB cable while slewing and I didn't see it. This USB cable was for Superstar autoguider and the only damage was it bent the connecter of USB cable that was connected to Superstar autoguider. I just replaced the USB cable and there was no damage to Superstar and all is well. From now on once the mount is polar aligned, I remove RAPAS for the rest of the night. My scope is a refractor and there are long cables from the top of mount (under the 16" saddle) and the cables can easily hang low and touch RAPAS. Look closely at second picture of my web site under "Current Equipment". Have fun with your new toy. Peter

Attaching AP1100 to Pier?
Wayne Hixson
Just got my 1100 - what a beautiful piece of engineering and manufacturing! So many little improvements over the Mach1. Just the fact that you can take the Dec top plate off and on with 2 knobs, versus having to first remove the Dovetail bar and then the top plate with 10 bolts will make thru-the-mount wiring so much easier. As well as the little wire router device to keep the RAPAS view clear. And I think I'll be able to manage the weight ok assembled, at least a couple more years. Still waiting on my ATS pier and was wondering about attaching to it. According to the instructions, there are 6 bolts used. I was wondering if you can replace these with the machined knobs AP sells, or would that cause to many problems with possible snag points? Any other AP1100 owners using these? Thanks. Wayne

I also have a TAK 130 that is outfitted for photography at 46 pounds. It (Mach1) gives excellent guiding for photography. I also put an 11" Celestron Edge HD on it for photography with good results. Mach1 should do it. Alan

Thanks, Ray. Your suggestion to install ClassicShell was spot on. My AP1200 is now merrily Jogging along under control by AP V2 ASCOM Driver/Windows 8.1/VMware Fusion/MacMini. I think I might just be able to loosen the death grip on my XP machine.
Thanks again, Gene

Ray,
I will post the log files when I get home. I use Windows 7 and Mach1GTO. I'm not sure about the control box. Do you mean the chip revision? Thank you. Donghun

Hi Eric...... I have very interested in converting my setup to a RigRunner setup. Would you be kind enough to send me a list of the necessary components, perhaps a diagram of the connections/routing and some pictures. It's a lot to ask but without them I will probably get lost. John Thompson
Scottsdale Arizona From: "eric@... [ap-gto]" To: ap-gto@... Sent: Tuesday, June 3, 2014 6:23 AM Subject: RE: [ap-gto] Outfitting a Mach 1 GTO The RigRunner setup shown in my link(http://www.astrobin.com/95156/) was built from parts ordered on the Internet. I was helped by a friend who had developed his own setup and knew what to purchase. Besides the RigRunner and the power source, the key parts are the flexible cables to carry 12V power and the powerpole connectors. Other than that there is the black wrap you see coming down from the RigRunner to the power supply and containing the usb cable that goes to the usb extension cable and to the computer. You will need a tool to make the power pole connections. All the components set on a base plate covered with a large velcro sheet. The plate is secured to the top d-plate on the scope. All the control components attach to the base plate with velcro. So you
can move the entire assemble from one scope to another, changing only those conponents needed. So for example, on the AP 130 GT, I use another type of auto focus, so that controller is switched out. We kept the power source for the Mach 1. But that could just as easily been eliminated and power taken from the RigRunner to the mount. I just like to start up the mount separably. If you are interested, I could ask my friend if he is willing to put together a list of components you would need to build your own system. I could also send you detailed pictures of my setup. Let me know. Eric

There is a AP Log Zipper utility that is installed with the driver (it's mentioned in the help file).

Try installing the (free) Classic Shell Start button replacement for Windows 8.x so that you can have easier access to the installed icons, one of which is for the AP Jog utility:
