I just uploaded 4.99.49 of the driver to the files section. It fixes the COM Port Timeout problem that became more
apparent in 4.99.48. Please try it out and let me know if there are any issues. Make sure you set the timeout value in
the setup dialog to an appropriate value. I recommend 300 msecs to start with. If you still get timeouts try a higher
timeout value.

2. Connect to the mount in PEMPro.

Hello,

I have loaded sky6 to a vista computer works fine. As to ccd soft 5, I
have a copy that came with my STL11000M camera and its does not work with
vista. After loading the application a dll Apogee32.dll does not exist and
it aborts the application. I am trying to find exactly what the apogee32.dll
does and why since this was a fresh install 'done multiple times just to be
sure' fails each time, so I would say till software bisque announces a fix
for this I would suggest to say that ccd soft does not work very well with
vista.so far.



If you are going to use a usb port expander with any SBIG usb based camera,
make sure it is iso-syncronous compatible, if not you will not be able to
get images processed from the camera to your pc.

new ones has a serial or parallel port. They also run Vista instead of the
old XP-Pro I've been using. I assume that there are port expanders or such
that plug into a USB port and provide an RS-232 serial port for connecting
to my AP-1200 mount. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations
relating to these devices? Do any of them have parallel ports? I still use
an old parallel port ST-7 as an autoguider. Is Windows Vista compatible with
The Sky-6 and CCDSoft software I am currently using, or will I need to get
an update on those programs? Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

Tonight I loaded driver version .48 and moved the serial port connection to
port 2 (the lower connection). Unfortunately, I did not see a change in the
behavior of version .48 of the driver. Whan I returned to version .47 either
port worked flawlessly. I hope this is what you asked me to test and that
the results (good or bad) are presented here effectively for your needs. I
have noticed that the number of errors reported by the .48 driver is about
1/4 of the resends. I see no errors with the .47 driver. I will try to send
a log file in the next few days to the AP files site to see if Ray can tell
me what I am doing wrong (as I truly suspect that I am doing something silly
either in the settings or in the program loading method).

with
prior versions. I am currently running .47 and everything is perfect!
There
are communications errors and missed commands. I have reset the timeout to
500 but see no improvement. I use a Mach1GTO with GTOPC3. The results with
version .47 are excellent and the driver is so versatile and effective. I
am so appreciative of Ray and AP for this new driver work.

motors getting knocked around during transport. It also makes everything
slightly more compact to get into those tight spots in the car or truck.

(2) Polar housing threads: The front polar scope cap and the rear threads

cross-thread in the cold and dark. Coarser threads would be handy.

(3) Polar scope position: When inserted, it sticks out quite a bit from
the mount. Allowing it to be inserted further into the mount would be a bonus
for us mobile users (we could more easily and safely keep it in place
during transport).

(4) Through-the-mount cabling: Another great design feature of the Mach 1
that would be much appreciated in the 900s and 1200s.

(5) Hand controller cord: I'm sure this one is on the "not even remotely
likely" list but it would be great to have a removeable/replaceable cord for
the hand controller... for transport or to replace with a straight cord,
etc.

All 5 of your suggestions are great. We will consider them for sure. I
don't know about #5 since we don't make the hand controller, but it' doesn't
hurt to ask.
