ASCOM driver v4.99.49
Ray Gralak \(Yahoo Groups\) <yahoo@...>
I just uploaded 4.99.49 of the driver to the files section. It fixes the COM Port Timeout problem that became more
apparent in 4.99.48. Please try it out and let me know if there are any issues. Make sure you set the timeout value in the setup dialog to an appropriate value. I recommend 300 msecs to start with. If you still get timeouts try a higher timeout value. -Ray

Grazing the Umbra (PLE 2009)
Anthony Ayiomamitis <anthony@...>
Dear group,
We were very fortunate to have relatively very good conditions for this evening's partial lunar eclipse and which was a great way to end the year, the decade as well as IYA 2009. Although the depth was only 8%, the moon's partial entry into the umbral shadow was quite obvious both naked eye as well as through the telescope at high power. For a time series with exposures spaced 30 minutes apart and which documents the moon's entry into the penumbra and umbra as well as its consequent exit, please see http://www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2009-12-31b.htm . Best wishes to everyone for the New Year filled with health and prosperity! Anthony.

Re: New Computers?
Charles Sinsofsky <charles@...>
Hello,
I have loaded sky6 to a vista computer works fine. As to ccd soft 5, I have a copy that came with my STL11000M camera and its does not work with vista. After loading the application a dll Apogee32.dll does not exist and it aborts the application. I am trying to find exactly what the apogee32.dll does and why since this was a fresh install 'done multiple times just to be sure' fails each time, so I would say till software bisque announces a fix for this I would suggest to say that ccd soft does not work very well with vista.so far. If you are going to use a usb port expander with any SBIG usb based camera, make sure it is iso-syncronous compatible, if not you will not be able to get images processed from the camera to your pc. Just some thoughts. Thank you Charles From: ap-gto@yahoogroups.com [mailto:ap-gto@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of gilchriswa Sent: Thursday, December 31, 2009 1:11 PM To: ap-gto@yahoogroups.com Subject: [ap-gto] New Computers? I'm almost certain this question has been asked before, and I hate to bother the group with this, but I could not find the right messages with a brief search. I will need to replace my old laptop computer soon, and none of the new ones has a serial or parallel port. They also run Vista instead of the old XP-Pro I've been using. I assume that there are port expanders or such that plug into a USB port and provide an RS-232 serial port for connecting to my AP-1200 mount. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations relating to these devices? Do any of them have parallel ports? I still use an old parallel port ST-7 as an autoguider. Is Windows Vista compatible with The Sky-6 and CCDSoft software I am currently using, or will I need to get an update on those programs? Thanks for any help that anyone can provide. Allen Gilchrist

Hi Daniel,
New Member my name is Daniel and I live in France, I received for Christmas a AP900GTO, mountCongratulations on your new mount! I have just a question:Your English is fine! Here's what you need to do assuming you have already installed PEMPro, the ASCOM platform, and the AP driver: 1. If you haven't already, use the Mount Wizard to create a new mount instance. PEMPro defaults to use the old AP driver so if you are using the new driver you will need to select it in the Mount Wizard. 2. Connect to the mount in PEMPro. 3. Select the "AP Raw PE" tab. 4. Click "From Mount" and wait for the curve to be uploaded into PEMPro. 5. Click "To File" to save the PE Curve to disk. -Ray

I looked at your log file and saw the timeouts but the driver recovered in each case. It doesn't look like there was a significant problem. -Ray
-----Original Message-----they contain what appears to be a com errors interspersed throughout the file. Not sure if this is what Yves and Sam are referringto or not but I thought I would upload one of my shorter files for your review.
