How does one measure how close to the pole you are? When I do drift alignment I simply zero out the drift. I don't spend time trying to measure how close to the pole the mount is.
Second question, are you aligned on the real pole or the refracted pole? There is a difference in how the mount drifts, or I should say how the stars drift as the mount tracks with sidereal tracking.

Well, last night I managed to get the polar alignment done. Seems that the source of drift was the something not correct in the calibration.
Once done, I ended up with 30 arc sec in azimuth and 1 arc sec in altitude.
Should be good enough!
