This is kind of basic networking knowledge which I assume you have but for the sake of others in the same situation:
1) Do you have DHCP enabled on your router? This will provide an IP address to the CP4. 2) Do you know your home local Subnet address and Subnet Mask? You can usually find that by typing "ipconfig" from a windows shell. Here is an example screenshot:
If the CP4 has DHCP enabled it will get an IP address from the router. This is much better than a single cable connection between PC and the CP4, because other computers on your network will also have access to the CP4 if needed.
You can use APCC to find the CP4 in APCC’s “Connection” group box by clicking the find CP4/CP5 button. If the CP4 is not found then it might not be connected on your LAN or it is not configured correctly (take a look at the A-P docs for the CP4 and if needed give a call to George at A-P).
