Re: [External] Fwd: How to set correct mount position in V2 driver
Thanks Rolando,
Perfect, I'll just carry on observing and imaging 😊. I really appreciate you clarifying for me. Regards, Geof ________________________________ From: ap-gto@... <ap-gto@...> on behalf of chris1011@... GoTos are not regulated by observer location. Never has been. You can tell it that you're in Bangalore and as long as you tell it that it's 8pm daylight savings (if that's what time it is where you are) and center/recal on the first star, the mount servo will happily slew exactly to the next object and the next, etc. It won't care where you told it that you are located. The meridian flips are based on hour angle, same as the horizon limits east and west. I'm not sure what the implications are of this slightly wrong longitude, so what if anything will that affect. Presumably my GOTOs and meridian flip times will be very slightly out, Rolando -----Original Message----- From: Geof Lewis geoflewis@... Locations 3-9 are all 0000's. So far I have not found anywhere that holds the reported wrong longitude, so its very curious. I will try your suggestion to start with autoconnect NO and specify the correct location to see if that fixes it. I'm not sure what the implications are of this slightly wrong longitude, so what if anything will that affect. Presumably my GOTOs and meridian flip times will be very slightly out, which is not much of an issue, but is there anything else I should be aware off? When you set your keypad to YES, it used the last location that you had set, the bogus one. You might want to check your location number and start your keypad with Autoconnect NO for the first time and specify the proper location. Then you can set it to YES and have the keypad automatically start from that proper location. Is the setting in the HC correct for the site he is at, and is the correct site chosen? I have never heard of a case where the HC sent something different to the mount than what HC site setting says to send. Mike can you explain why the HC sets the longitude differently? As you advised the V2 driver then reported the correct Mount Actual and Site settings both the same. So I powered everything off again, reconnected the HC and powered up again, then reconnected the V2 driver via PHD2 and am back where I was was with the same incorrect Mount Actual longitude setting, so I still have no idea how/where that is being set in the mount. Hi George, If you are following this please could explain how I can get the correct longitude settting in the mount via the HC. I have no idea how it became wrong in the first place. Is this just turning on the power supply? After turning on the mount, you can initialize it with the AP V2 driver by starting any ASCOM client application that uses the driver. When the driver connects to the mount it will initialize it, but you might want to be wary of the park/unpark settings. Typically you want to unpark from last parked position, and park to one of the AP park positions. You can find information about how to set the driver's initialization values in the help file, and also online here: http://www.gralak.com/apdriver/help/index.html?telescope_setup.htm Also what if I just want to use the HC not connect to a laptop at all? That's something that maybe George, Howard, or Roland might be better at describing as I very rarely use the hand controller.
