I cannot explain. Is the setting in the HC correct for the site he is at, and is the correct site chosen?

I have never heard of a case where the HC sent something different to the mount than what HC site setting says to send.

Mike can you explain why the HC sets the longitude differently?

Thanks Ray,

Ok so I powered everything down including the laptop, disconnected the HC then powered everything up and connected the V2 driver using the PHD2 client. As you advised the V2 driver then reported the correct Mount Actual and Site settings both the same. So I powered everything off again, reconnected the HC and powered up again, then reconnected the V2 driver via PHD2 and am back where I was was with the same incorrect Mount Actual longitude setting, so I still have no idea how/where that is being set in the mount.

Hi George,

If you are following this please could explain how I can get the correct longitude settting in the mount via the HC. I have no idea how it became wrong in the first place.

Geof

Geof,

Please explain 'initialize mount' more fully. Is this just turning on the power supply?
After turning on the mount, you can initialize it with the AP V2 driver by starting any ASCOM client application that uses the
driver. When the driver connects to the mount it will initialize it, but you might want to be wary of the park/unpark settings.
Typically you want to unpark from last parked position, and park to one of the AP park positions.

You can find information about how to set the driver's initialization values in the help file, and also online here:

http://www.gralak.com/apdriver/help/index.html?telescope_setup.htm

Also what if I just want to use the HC not connect to a laptop at all?
That's something that maybe George, Howard, or Roland might be better at describing as I very rarely use the hand controller.

Thanks Ray,

Please explain 'initialize mount' more fully. Is this just turning on the power supply? I can't connect my laptop to the
mount via the driver before it is turned on, so I don't understand how to initialise it via the driver. Also what if I just
want to use the HC not connect to a laptop at all? Surely there must be a way to set the correct Lat/Long via the
HC..? I've checked the Driver set up and the site details are correct as they were yesterday and as reported in the
V2 driver as site settings.

Geof

I'll try that, but how do I get the correct setting in the V2 driver in the first place?
You can configure it in the driver's Setup window.

I'll try that, but how do I get the correct setting in the V2 driver in the first place? I've never run the mount without
the
HC connected, yet it is reporting my correct latitude, so it clearly got that from somewhere....!!

Hi Geof,

I'm clearly not understanding the 'initialize mount' procedure. I power the mount ON with just the HC and nothing
else connected. I checked the 'Get Time/Loc from Mount' Option 3 setting which shows the correct longtitude
and
latitude. I also checked the Site Location Data Option 1 (Site 1), which has the correct longtitude and latitude,
but I
saved that again anyway. Next I connected my laptop via USB and opened the V2 driver (v5.10.02) which still
reports the wrong 'Mount Actual' longtitude (NB the latitude is correct). If I refresh the Mount Actual Lat/Long
that
updates the Site Setting in the driver with the wrong Longtitude, so whilst they are then both reporting the same,
they are both wrong. I've provided a link below to my Dropbox where there are pictures of my HC settings and
screenshot of the driver site info.
Have you tried letting the AP V2 driver initialize the mount instead of the hand controller? That is, disconnect the
hand controller completely to take it out of the loop. It seems like something had previously initialized the mount
with
the Lat/Long values displayed by the driver. It could be that what you were looking at in the hand controller was
one
of the saved settings in the hand controller and not what the mount actually had set.
