Most likely the MX will hold the 305 because this scope is short and does not have much of a moment arm.
You can remove the focuser on the back of the 305 and substitute an Optec rotator/focuser. You will gain approximately 100mm (4 inch) of back focus when the focuser is removed.

I know the weight is getting close to the limit.

Also, is there enough back focus to install the Optec Gemini rotator/focuser?

They would be quite a combo.
