It could be that as the scope and mount moves the significant distance it would move during long sub exposures such as yours, either there is a mechanical shift somewhere in the system such as in the bolts as Alan has suggested or maybe loose scope mounting rings or guide scope mounting system or camera mounts. Another possibly is the worm has flopped to the other side of the tooth in a loose RA gear mesh.

OK. I'll check the RA mesh next time. I did the dec a few months ago, so it's OK.
The thing that is still puzzling me is why the error only showed up after a long successful guiding period. The telescope was pointing well past the zenith, so it wasn't perfect balance causing a wobble at the zenith.
The mount is a 3 year old AP900
