Hey Tom, Just a shot in the dark, but if the mount has a N/S (hemisphere) switch, make sure it's in the right place.

Never more than that. The mount without pec and no guiding gives +/- 1.8 arcsec with PemPro and no PEC. This mount is perfect and has been recently re-greased and backlash set with a dial gauge.
