I really don't understand what you are doing. It appears to me that you are parking in one undefined park location and then trying to resume from another defined park location. Of course you will cause the mount to be lost.

I put it to park 0 , then shut off mount , re started , did the steps I mentioned earlier and it pointed to western horizon
