Re: Scope quits moving

Got my new 600E GOTO on Mrach 27th. Received note on Friday April 7th
with this info which is applicable to scopes delivered after Feb. 25.
In short - the red light turns yellow when the scope is badly out of
balance or (I persume) overloaded. Saves burning out the motors.

The scope now moves after I clamp the clutches down a tad more. My
mistake but that what this page is for! We **&% up and we get the
right advice. Got to quit working 12 hour days and get some sleep!

As Marj pointed out, just snug up the clutch knob a bit.
Thats the first I've heard of the power light turning yellow if

I believe that my mount will quit running as not to burn up a motor
version 2.3.
Is this something that AP has added to the newer goto's?

Sounds like your clutch knob was not fully engaged. Try tightening
it up a
bit, especially if you have a heavier load.

I'm using my new AP600E (one star polar alignment mode) at 1200X
moving from Sirius to Polaris. Works okay then moving back to
the scope stops moving in Dec about half way back although motor(s)
still actively working. Scope just sits there and motors complete
their run. Did this twice after I unplugged everything and started
over. (Heart failure I tell you!)

The red light on the panel stays red and doesn't go yellow to
indicate overload (latest missive from AP) and scope balance
seems okay. I then added a small counterweight to front of OTA to
it slightly "front heavy" and everything works okay.

Night before same procedure worked fine (without additional
Mind you this is a portable setup and I do take it down after each
observing session. I try to get the balance perfect each time but
never knows do one?

Waiting for a reply from AP. In the meantime - hints anyone?
