Not the rear elements. If you install
the wedge on a non-driven scope and not keep the sun tracking, the solar
image will drift towards focuser drawtube and other elements. TEC for instance
specifically cautions as they use plastic collar to keep 2" accessories
centered, the heat can ignite or at least melt this collar and fumes can
fog the optics.
