NEW 1600, DEC AXIS LOCKED

Mike Shade

Setting up a brand new 1600.  Trying to balance the telescope, cannot move the DEC axis, even with the clutch plugs all the way out.  With EXTREME force the DEC axis will move but it makes a scraping noise, something is rubbing you can not only hear it but can feel it rubbing.  Checked internal cables, can move them freely and they would not be causing this sort of resistance.  This is not a telescope out of balance issue.  The mount has not been powered up yet, have not set gear mesh, cannot even check balance.

Anyone have any ideas here?  At this point not overly amused
