That would also be my recommendation. I power my GTO with an 8 AH gel cell for a few hours of visual observing and recharge during the day with a solar panel. One battery has lasted several years with this routine and is still going strong. Of course if your setup includes computer and dew heater loads that's a completely different ballgame.
