I think the best solution without replacing those 2 knobs is to
increase the diameter of the cable to the size large enough so it is
not possible to get caught because they will be too large to do so.

Quick & dirty temporary fix:

Find a short length of nylon rope, a bit thicker than the space between the
knob and the mount.
Tie the rope around that gap - this, acting as a filler, takes up the space
where the mount's cable wants to crawl into and snag. Now the mount cable will
slip past the gap.
