Can someone tell me what minimum acceptable polar misalignment reading I should shot for with a permenite observatory setup? My equipment: AP1200 mount ST-128 Takahashi refractor and STL-4020 camera. With a 6 star mapping run (Big Dipper) I get the following Polar Alignment error readout"
Azimuth = -1.0 minutes
Altitude = +1.4 minutes
Thanks, Joe Schaefer
Joe: 6 stars are not enough to give you an alignment solution ... I'd do 20-30 points and add a few terms and see what it says ...
